Arminera 2019 has a wide academic offer

The 12th edition of the International Trade Fair for the Mining Industry open its doors on May 7-9 in Costa Salguero Center of Buenos Aires. During three days, it offers a wide range of activities that promote professional updating through conferences, forums, discussion panels and trainings.

Within the framework of Arminera, there are several conferences on the current situation of the sector, lectures and presentations given by the participating companies. The same cover varied subjects, such as the challenges the industry is facing in at present, its potential, together with gender and human rights issues.

The participation of women in mining is one of the great subjects to be discussed. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank will do a business case analysis on the benefits of gender diversity in the work environment, with practical tools to assess and approach the obstacles that make equality and inclusion more difficult in the workplace. The date is on Wednesday at 3.10 p.m. in Room A.

At 3.50 p.m., the "Meeting of Mining Women", moderated by Carolina Sánchez, the Secretary of Mining Development of Argentina, will invite you to rethink the gender issues from the experiences in the mining work environment.

In turn, as part of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), a program that promotes the open and transparent management, and the good use of the incomes from mining, oil and gas, Arminera offers an approach space on the implementation, obligations and benefits for the companies and the sector.

Another of the axes of the exhibition refers to the opportunities offered by lithium. Franco Mignacco, President of Minera Exar, Martín Pérez de Solay, Managing Director & CEO of Orocobre, and Alejandro Moro, General Manager of Rincon Lithium will give first-hand information about the challenges for Argentina regarding this mineral.

by representative authorities of the sector: Dante Sica, Minister of Production and Labor, Carolina Sánchez, Secretary of Mining Policy, Mariano Lamothe, Undersecretary of Mining Development and Marcelo Álvarez, Regional Executive Director of Minera Andina del Sol.

On the other hand, on Thursday 9, there will be a lecture space about the "Investment Opportunities in Argentina", given by Lamothe.

At 6.10 p.m., Alejandro Catterberg, Director of Poliarquía Consultores, will do a political analysis about the election trends and will disclose questions on the potential impact of the results in the complex Argentine scenario.

The advances of the TSM program "Towards Sustainable Mining", submitted by the previous edition of Arminera by the Argentine Chamber of Mining Companies (CAEM), will be shown to the audience on Thursday at 2.10 p.m. in Room A. A space devoted to the presentation of the results of the private Social Investment Measuring of the mining industry that allows measuring objectively which is the relation between mining and the community development.

Other subjects highlighted in the agenda refer to the meetings on "Human Rights in the extractive industries", "Mining and the economic context", "The Argentine geological and mining potential", among others.

Exhibitors' Conferences

On their part, the participating companies will carry out product presentations and trainings on several subjects which are relevant for the industry. Among them it is worth mentioning: sustainability, drilling equipment and tools for salt flats; wear coatings in mining sites; equipment for industrial and metallic minerals processing; ventilation systems and drainage pumps; program of lithium carbonate plants from brines, among others.

The companies that will give these professional updating spaces are the following: Agrekko, Argenteo Mining- Golan Plastic, Corrosion Engineering Inc., DSI, Eral Chile, Newmont Goldcorp, Heling S.A, Liebherr Argentina, Mobil, Orica, Rocasur S.A, Sandvik, Secco, and Worley Parsons.

It is worth mentioning that all these activities are free of charge, subject to the auditorium capacity.

Arminera will be carried out on May 7-9, 2019 in Costa Salguero Center of Buenos Aires.

The exhibition is only for businessmen and professionals of the sector. With an invitation: free of charge. People under 16 years will not be admitted, even if attending with an adult.
